Despite what you might think, these incredible gorges are not the result of the incessant flow of the river but were created by basaltic lava flows that cooling quickly created these particular shapes. TAORMINA | ME
Taormina from the height of its 200 meters above sea level, dominates a wonderful panorama that embraces Etna and the plain below, rich in fragrant citrus groves and the image of touristic Sicily, but also the cultural one. SYRACUSE
Cicero claimed that Syracuse was "the largest Greek city and the most beautiful of all".
A visit to the island of Ortigia is a must, the most fascinating and evocative part of Syracuse to which it is connected by three bridges. A patch of land of just one square kilometer in extension considered the true historical center of the Sicilian city.
The remains of some important temples persist as an everlasting memory of a historical moment in which the island acquired its importance. The most famous, the temple of Athena today sees the columns and the stepped base incorporated in the more modern Cathedral of Syracuse (in the photo), built in the 17th century in full Baroque style.
